True Random Number Service

Random Sound Generator

This form allows you to generate random sound, i.e., audio files containing perfect white noise. The randomness comes from atmospheric noise, which for many purposes is better than the pseudo-random number algorithms typically used in computer programs.

There's a detailed description of this generator and the sound it produces.

This service is in beta
All its functionality should work but it hasn't yet been extensively tested, so please let me know if you encounter problems or have suggestions.

Step 1: The Sound Parameters

Generate approx. [] seconds of random noise at volume

Use a sample rate of bits per second and a sample size of bits per sample

Use randomness generated on

Due to the amount of randomness required to generate sound, this form will only use randomness generated by RANDOM.ORG on specific dates in the past, not randomness generated in real time. The length (in time) of the sound will depend on the parameters you choose. Using this form will not affect your quota.

Step 2: Choose Output Details

Which audio format would you like? [audio file formats]
WAV format (type audio/wav)
AIFF format (type audio/aiff)
AU format (type audio/au)

What would you like to do with the sound?
Play in browser
Download to a file

Step 3: Go!

Be patient! It may take a little while to generate your sound...
