This randomizer uses true random numbers generated from atmospheric noise. It was made as a complimentary gesture to TSA who have recently received a fair amount of critique over an app they purchased from IBM. We invite TSA and other agencies in charge of transport security to adopt this solution, or contact us for further details.
In fairness to TSA and IBM, true random numbers are not trivial, and here at RANDOM.ORG, we feel the reporting on this story oversimplified the problem. If the system IBM delivered generated high-quality true random numbers using the standard iPad hardware, then the $47K price tag is not at all unreasonable. Even implementing a good pseudo-random number generator, seeding it correctly and testing it thoroughly isn't something ‘any beginning-level coder’ can be expected to do (which Mashable reported), and it's easy to get wrong even for experienced developers.
Anyway, we're glad to see people being excited about randomness!
